School Meals

New Dinner Menu week commencing 9th June 2023

We are fortunate in Ton Pentre Junior School in that we have a separate canteen.  Fresh hot meals are prepared each day in our school kitchen and there is a good choice available.  A drink is always provided.  Catering provide a 2 week menu rota.  The privilege of staying for a school meal is conditional on good behaviour.

Parents may however, wish to prepare a packed lunch for their child to bring to school.  As we are a healthy school, no sweets or high energy/fizzy drinks are allowed.  No drinks to be brought in glass containers or metal cans.

The children are supervised during and after their meal by our Lunchtime Supervisors.

If you are entitled to free school meals then please ensure the school knows and you have filled out the correct form - see link above.

Children are encouraged to bring in a piece of fruit to eat during morning break.

Does your child have a food allergy/intolerance or a medical condition, which would require them to need a Medically Prescribed Diet?

If so, Catering Services will need you to register your child as having a medically prescribed dietary requirement.  Please click on the link and complete the 'Form' above. You will need to upload medical evidence, from a registered medical practitioner or dietitian, confirming the child’s dietary requirement(s).

We cannot feed your child until this application has been completed and processed.

To complete the application, you must supply clear and detailed written correspondence from a registered medical practitioner/ dietitian, ideally dated within the last 6 months. You will be asked to upload the evidence as part of the online application.

The evidence must include the following information:

  • Name and job title of the registered medical practitioner/dietitian
  • Place of work and telephone number of the registered medical practitioner/ dietitian
  • The child’s name and date of birth
  • Details of the dietary issue/need
  •

If your child is currently awaiting a diagnosis regarding a specific dietary need, medical evidence should still be obtained as we cannot feed your child without medical evidence. As a short-term measure only, you will need to provide your child with a packed lunch until a medically prescribed menu is implemented.
